The History of the Cottage Brand
Cottage is a French brand based in the North near Lille. Its promise: to savor the delights of nature while taking care of your body, thanks to a wide range of hygiene and care products.
Our Story
It was in 1999 that the iconic little Cottage bottle was born with its treasures of incomparable fragrances.
The small brand has grown big and now rivals major international groups. It’s not easy every day to fight against these cosmetics giants…
But Cottage can rely on passionate men and women, happy to work within a close-knit team, on a human scale and concerned with defending the French know-how of small businesses.
Our Fragrances
Natural sensoriality is at the heart of Cottage’s DNA and it is dear to us to offer authentic and figurative fragrances, faithful to the sensory treasures of nature.
Because this promise of sensoriality is one of the pillars of the brand, fragrance selection constitutes a crucial step in the development of our products. We work with the best perfumers in France and around the world in search of the perfect balance between naturalness, pleasure and effectiveness.
Cottage offers you an unparalleled sensory excursion thanks to its original, gourmet or sensual fragrances, powerful and lasting, for an explosion of happiness in the shower.
Our Commitments
Because sensory pleasure does not exist without preserved nature, Cottage is committed to a better and sustainable world.
French Manufacturing
French SME based in Hauts-de-France, the Cottage brand has always defended “Made in France”.
Thus, almost all the industrial partners who participate in the manufacture of a Cottage product (bottles, caps, labels…) are located in France and comply with Good Manufacturing Practice standards (ISO 22716 standard). Products are strictly controlled throughout the production chain to guarantee impeccable quality.
Some partners have been with us since our beginnings and it is thanks to them, to these relationships of trust that we have been able to grow and improve over the years! Nouvelle Aquitaine, Normandy, Rhône-Alpes, Brittany, Grand Est… the brand participates in French production throughout the territory.
Eco-Design
Since 2010, because we were concerned about limiting our impact on the environment, the Cottage teams have carried out a Product Life Cycle Analysis.
Life Cycle Analysis: What is it?
Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) inventories and quantifies, throughout the life of products, the physical flows of matter and energy associated with human activities and evaluates their impacts. All stages of a product’s life cycle are taken into account: extraction of raw materials needed for product manufacturing, distribution, use, collection and disposal to end-of-life channels as well as all transport phases.
Thus, since 2010, we have reduced the weight of our bottles, achieving up to 15% plastic savings per bottle. We have developed large formats and favored the use of recyclable materials (PP, PE, PET), 100% recycled cardboard overpackaging or labels printed with vegetable inks.
Each year, for each creation of new products, we seek to go further in limiting our environmental impact. From formula to packaging through logistics flows… we take everything into account.
2017: Moving a large part of bottle production to the product packaging location to limit transport of empty bottles.
2019: Implementation of a specification “formulas 97% ingredients of natural origin” using ingredients from renewable agro-resources, non-polluting or obtained via optimized manufacturing processes. Gradual introduction of ingredients from Organic Agriculture.
2021: PE bottle 100% of plant origin for our milk showers 550ml.
2023: New shampoo bottle made from 100% recycled plastic.
2024: Objective: Manufacture 100% of our bottles from 100% recycled plastic and always 100% recyclable.
The planet is in danger. Everyone must change their habits and everyone has a role to play in defending our wonderful nature. Cottage is committed to it… for a better world.
Please Note: Our packaging and products are subject to sorting instructions of each territory.
Solidarity
Committed to eco-design for a sustainable world, we also want to show solidarity through our product donations, our financial donations or the mobilization of our men and women.
Helping people in difficulty, the sick, children or more simply participating in a local fair, supporting local sports associations, participating in events defending a just cause… There are no “small actions”: any positive social impact is one more brick in building a better and sustainable world. Cottage believes in it!
Because a sustainable world is necessarily a caring one…
